  1. Why is Madeira having such high incidence rates daily for covid and related variants? How many residents have been vaccinated and are all tourists entering Madeira required to prove they have been vaccinated. We go to Madeira from Canada usually in April except for the last two years and looks again like a no no for 2022 which makes us sad.

    1. What do you mean by “such high incidence”? If you think it gets much better than this don´t bother booking a flight in the next 5 to 10 years.

    2. We have less than 0.1% actice cases how better do you want it, probably best to stay at home. And this month we will see 85% of the population vaccinated.

    3. Could I maybe suggest you once again read and digest the incident rates which show Madeira has been doing brilliant throughout this Pandemic. Tobi has given the vaccination percentage and you should be aware that proof of double jab vaccination is required. I thought everyone knew this?.
      Free PCR test are provided before leaving the airport free of charge for travellers who are not vaccinated.
      We are going to have to live with Covid for a very long time so might be best to stay where you are. Do you have any idea what the incident rate per 100000 is in Canada?.

    2. And now they are even talking about introducing Face Control, in- and outward bound. Imagine that chaos!

    3. It has always been chaos at Madeira on a Monday. Zarco warned Henry the Navigator to avoid Mondays back in the early 1400’s. Something to do with it being the main Time Share change over day.

      I don’t know how much travelling you do but as well as the UK leaving the Common Market which has caused extra paperwork there has been a phenomenon called Covid which has resulted in delays at most airports worldwide. It seems the Madeiran authorities have this unreasonable wish to keep both visitors and locals safe which has resulted in a lot of extra checking of Certificates and testing, much to the inconvenience of travelers. Travelers themselves do not help by not having the right size carry on cases, although sizes changed some time ago and Air Lines notified everyone, by not carrying paper evidence of tests, instead relying on so called smart phones that never have a signal or run out of battery just as one is asked for details. I too have long wondered about Passport Control. Having to wait in a line then having to wait again while an unsmiling official, who is fed up telling people to remove the fancy leather covers, stamps your Passport. I mean that is mental.Having visited Madeira three times this year, yes I agree with everything you say, I can only suggest you try and find an alternative holiday destination.

      1. You wouldn’t believe the number of passengers that don’t even realise what they should do, and do not get on their flight, a very expensive lesson learnt.

  3. And even worse if you go back home on a Monday. Still a bit doubtful about going anywhere at the moment my Son (having had his two doses of vaccine) had to go to Germany on business and got there without any problem until he had a telephone call from his friend that he had proved positive so Kevin had to be tested and he proved positive and had to stay in his room for 14 days and then be tested. Good job it was for business as he was staying 5*. He really was not feeling too bad and was clear at the end of the 14 days.

  5. I arrived yesterday at Madeira Airport. After baggage claim it took me <2 min to get through.
    Waving the Madeirasafe QR-Code was all that was necessary.
