The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) suspended this Tuesday, November 28th, a supermarket located near the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, in Funchal, during an inspection operation, for non-compliance with hygiene and food safety.
To DIÁRIO, Luís Miguel Rosa, ARAE regional inspector, explained that after several complaints, the authority traveled to the site, together with the Health Authority, to carry out an inspection. “This was a situation that had already been flagged and was not addressed in time and closure to correct the defects became inevitable,” he explained.
There is still no expected date for the reopening of the establishment, explained the inspector, adding that it will depend on the supermarket’s ability to resolve the corrections, informing that “then there will be a ‘reinspection’ by the Health Authority and our [ARAE] which will confirm that they are ready to open”, he concluded.
