200 professionals guarantee safety and assistance at the end of the year

There are more than 200 security and rescue professionals who will be in Funchal, on standby, in addition to the other 200 in reserve, for New Year’s Eve in the capital of Madeira. 

To RTP-Madeira, Pedro Calado reveals that “between 200 and 250 thousand people” are expected for the pyrotechnic show and that everything is prepared to guarantee the safety and assistance of the population and the thousands of tourists who intend to watch the fireworks.

According to a publication by the Municipal Civil Protection Service (SMPC Funchal), hundreds of professionals will guarantee the “Pyrotechnic Show Coordination Plan 2023/2024, promoted by SMPC Funchal, in coordination with the Mobility and Traffic Division, Sapadores Fire Company of Funchal, Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, Public Security Police, National Maritime Authority, Portuguese Red Cross and APRAM – Port Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, this year (2023) will be monitored and implemented through the Events Coordination Post, located in facilities of the Funchal Municipal Civil Protection Service.

In total, the security and rescue teams will provide 134 firefighters, most of them in prevention, 20 rescuers from the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) and 100 police officers, in addition to operatives from the GNR, the Maritime Police, the Judiciary Police and port employees. .

In the city, four ambulances from the Portuguese Red Cross, with 22 CVP volunteers, in pre-hospital assistance, 30 firefighters (fire and fire) and a device of 100 PSP agents guarantee help and safety to 200 thousand people who are expected to watch the fireworks in the city of Funchal.
