Calheta welcomed the Christmas season last night with the opening of the nativity scene in the center of the town and also with the lighting spread throughout the municipality.
Carlos Teles, president of the Calheta City Council, highlighted to the microphones of 88.8 JM FM that this is a moment that “is part of the Christmas tradition”, a time that “Madeirans live very intensely”.
The mayor took the opportunity to extend the invitation to all Calhetas residents and beyond so that they can follow the various moments that mark this season in the municipality.
Today, Thursday, the Christmas Concert will take place at 9 pm, at the Prazeres gymnasium, with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira. The same space will host, on the 14th, the children’s Christmas party, with gifts distributed, and there will also be, on the 17th, a lunch for the senior population. On the night of December 22nd, Mercado dos Prazeres Night will be one of the highlights of the season.
