Minimum salary in Madeira will be 850 euros a month

The regional secretary for Inclusion and Youth received social partners throughout the morning today. On the table was, in particular, the issue of increasing the minimum wage, which will be 850 euros.

A historic agreement was reached, with no votes against and one abstention, as reported by JM at the end of the meeting.

Which represents a nominal increase of 65 euros compared to this year. In other words, it corresponds to 8.3 percent more than in 2023 and an increase of 3.66% percent, compared to the national minimum wage, set at 820 euros.

At the meeting, in addition to the Secretary of Inclusion, Ana Sousa, the regional secretaries of Education, Science and Technology, Sea Economy and Fisheries were present. USAM, UGT-Madeira, USI, ACIF, ASSICOM, CECS, USAM and the Madeira Farmers Association were the members that participated in this meeting that lasted around two hours.

Ana Sousa left the Regional Government’s firm commitment to continue maintaining a balanced and consistent policy of increasing the value of the guaranteed minimum monthly contribution. The regional secretary for Inclusion and Youth said she is convinced that the higher salary difference must be made in a sustained and balanced way. The minister recalled that, since 2015, Madeirans have seen the minimum wage rise by almost 270 euros. Which corresponds to an increase of more than 52 percent.
