A 20-year-old young man, already known, was arrested by the Public Security Police, in Funchal, for the crime of drug trafficking.
The arrest took place last holiday, December 1st, during a patrol action near Jardim do Almirante Reis, and the suspect was detected in the vicinity of the cable car.
Upon realizing the presence of the police, the young man tried to flee, but was intercepted. PSP agents searched him and managed to seize 30 individual doses of hashish and 20 euros in cash from drug trafficking proceeds, the PSP Regional Command said in a statement.
“This year this is the sixth time that the same suspect has been detained for the same type of crime and in the same location, and is even subject to coercive measures of periodic presentations at the Regional Command of PSP Madeira and a ban on frequenting spaces associated with drug trafficking. and drug consumption”, recalled the PSP.
However, the young man was free again. He was notified to appear in court today at 10 am, having failed to take the indicated procedural steps.
