Miguel Albuquerque will resign as president of the Regional Government of Madeira. The news is being advanced by various national media outlets. 

However, this is a question to be referred to the Political Committee, which meets at 5pm to discuss the latest events that are shaking the foundations of the PSD-M.

This afternoon, Albuquerque will also meet, at Quinta Vigia, with Rui Barreto, regional secretary of Economy, Sea and Fisheries and regional leader of the CDS. The president of the Regional Government will agree the next steps with the coalition partner.

  1. All I can see is Madeira is more prosperous than ever.Record Cruise ships,record Tourists and even more investment,Cash is sacred on the Island.Are all the restaurants going to be raided for taking cash and not paying their taxes?

  2. Thank God for that, good riddance. I hope they would get rid of all the old staff at finanças, registo predial do Funchal , registo civil, cadastral do Funchal and all the old staff in any local government building they are unhelpful crooks and only look after mr. Big .

  3. Well after seeing the news in Madeira Channel 161 it seems that even the PSD party chose another leader to replace Miguel Albuquerque will be temporary . The other parties all agree that will be need to have elections since that everyone agrees that should the people of Madeira chose the new president . Complete different from the UK where the Tory Party chose a leader with afraid of losing the majority that will be end up losing in the next general elections .

As an English man living in this Island I admit to being an old retired businessman, I travelled to most countries all over the world throughout my working life, comparing lifestyle you guys are doing very well. Economy in Madeira is flying, tourism never been better, property development, as people realise this Island has it all and want to be part of it. All this gives local residents and business, prosperity, peoples jobs and lifestyle. All this happening with Miguel Alburquerque as President, think about the positives, don’t exaggerate the negatives my friends.
