Pedro Calado and his mother “hid” thousands of euros at home

News is advanced by CNN Portugal.

(I’m just so happy this has been found out, as we all have known for years what a corrupt price of shit he is. Now they need to look into Albuquerque more, and probably find the same. )

In total, the Funchal mayor and his mother hid 100 thousand euros in cash and deposits.

Judiciary Police (PJ) inspectors found 20 thousand euros in cash at Pedro Calado’s house and another 10 thousand euros in banknotes at the residence of the mayor’s mother – who, authorities believe, acted as her son’s alleged front man.

These 30 thousand euros are not included in the accounts of other suspicious deposits, since during the investigation Pedro Calado’s banking secrecy was lifted, that is, in the accounts reported by CNN Portugal , the Public Prosecutor’s Office ‘tracked’, at least, another 70 thousand euros that reached the hands of the mayor of Funchal and which are believed to have originated from the corruption pacts he signed with construction companies.

In this way, according to the television channel, telephone tapping and surveillance of the targets revealed that Pedro Calado’s mother – who should be accused of money laundering – allegedly received money from bribes that she then sent to her son, in order to avoid public exposure of the mayor and ‘circumventing’ any possible judicial investigation.

The PJ thus found money with suspicious origins and not justified by the income that Pedro Calado earned. “Between 2018 and 2021, which coincided with the period in which he held the position of vice-president of the Regional Government of Madeira, Pedro Calado, through an intermediary, made cash deposits in the amount of 67 thousand euros”.

All in all, there are almost 100 thousand euros which the investigation believes are just the tip of the iceberg in the compensations that Pedro Calado has added over the years for the benefits he has given to large construction companies: awards worth millions of euros to companies such as the AFA group, Socicorreia or the company Caldeira e Costa.

According to the Public Ministry, Pedro Calado was bribed “to finance the rally competitions to which he dedicates himself in a personal capacity, as well as other expenses in his private life”.
