Pedro Ramos delivered ‘Baby Kit’ worth 600 euros to the baby of the year

The regional secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos, delivered, this morning, at the maternity ward of Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, the ‘Baby Kit’ card to the baby of the year, where he also took the opportunity to deliver the birth support card to everyone babies born in the last 24 hours.

The first baby of the year was born in the early hours of January 2nd, this is the first time since 2000, that a baby was not born on January 1st

With an initial allocation of 400 euros in 2019, the support granted through the ‘Baby Kit’ was increased in January 2020 to 500 euros and, in April 2023, it increased to 600 euros.

This measure, implemented by the Regional Government of Madeira since 2019, covers all babies born in the Region in the public and private system.

In 2023, the Regional Government allocated 1,684 ‘Baby Kit’ cards. This is a birth support measure, which grants families support worth €600 for the purchase of health and well-being products, medicines for pediatric use and vaccines not included in the National Vaccination Plan, in all pharmacies in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
