Carnival in Madeira will be wet and with strong winds

I would take this forecast with a pinch of salt, as it’s not what I’m seeing. If we do get some rain it will be very little. Tomorrow we still have alot of rain about. From Saturday, and for the main parade will be dry, but the wind might be cooler. The days after I think will be mostly dry.

Carnival in Madeira will be wet and with strong winds, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.

The organization explains that the weather in the Region, between the 9th and 13th of February, Friday and Tuesday of Carnival, will be conditioned “by the gradual establishment of an anticyclone that is to the Southwest of the Canaries and is moving to the Northeast , after the influence of the frontal swell associated with the Karlotta depression on day 9th.

In this sense, the IPMA predicts that precipitation may occur during this period, although it clarifies “it is more likely on the 9th and 11th”. As for the wind, it will be “from the West or Northwest, sometimes strong and gusty on the 9th, becoming from the South quadrant from Sunday, the 11th”.

With regard to temperature, there will be no “significant variations”, with the minimum value “varying between 12 and 18.ºC in almost the entire archipelago, being between 6 and 11.ºC in the highlands. The maximum temperature values they will oscillate between 18 and 24.ºC, being lower in the highlands, varying between 12 and 16.ºC.”

Finally, the sea agitation “in the West quadrant remains close to 4 meters on the 9th, with a decrease expected in the following days”.
