Bad weather forecast for Madeira until Friday generates warning from the National Maritime Authority

The wind and sea state forecast points to a “worsening of weather conditions and sea agitation in Madeira”, between 12pm tomorrow, March 20th, and 6pm on Friday, March 22nd, reported in a statement from the Portuguese Navy and the National Maritime Authority.

According to the same source, during these days, “the sea agitation will be characterized by swells coming from the Northwest, with a significant height that could reach 5 meters and a maximum height of 9 meters, with an average period between 11 and 12 seconds” . As for the wind, it “may register an average intensity of up to 50km/h and gusts of up to 85km/h, coming from the North quadrant.”

Therefore, the Navy and the National Maritime Authority warn, especially the fishing and recreational boating community that is at sea, to return to the nearest port of shelter and adopt precautionary measures.
