Heavy and persistent rain prompts yellow warning for Thursday and Friday

The bad weather is expected to mainly affect the north coast and mountainous regions.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere has just placed the North coast and the mountainous regions of the island of Madeira under yellow warning for rain, between 6pm next Thursday and 3pm the following day, Friday. At issue is the forecast of rain, which could, at times, be heavy and persistent. 

The yellow warning also extends to maritime unrest, covering, in this case, the North coast and the island of Porto Santo, between 3 pm tomorrow and 12 pm on Friday, the 22nd. Northwest, 4 to 5 meters, becoming North waves.

This afternoon, the Port Authority of Funchal issued some warnings to the population, advising against walks along the seafront or in areas likely to be affected by surf.
