A status update is scheduled for tomorrow to decide whether or not to continue the search.

At nightfall, the search for two French tourists who have been missing since last Saturday, believed to be between São Vicente and Porto Moniz, was suspended. According to a source from the Public Security Police (PSP), operations will resume tomorrow, starting at 9 am.

The same source reported that, this Wednesday, in addition to the usual technical meeting that takes place first thing in the morning, at the São Vicente Police Station, an assessment will be made of the entire operation, in order to understand the feasibility or not of continuing with resources on the ground.

For the fourth consecutive day, operatives on the ground, including PSP, Regional Civil Protection Service, Madeira Operational Command, National Republican Guard (GNR), National Maritime Authority, through the Maritime Police, and SANAS ‘struck’, by sea and by land , the entire perimeter between Fajã da Areia, in São Vicente, and Porto Moniz.

In addition to the actions carried out with drones, a vessel was also involved, which ‘swept’ the entire seafront, as well as kinesthetic binomials, which, on land, traveled the coastal areas between these two locations. This Tuesday, searches were also carried out on the pedestrian trails that surround this entire area, without, so far, any sign of the presence of the French couple having been found.
