Gusts above 100 km/h for the fourth consecutive day in Areeiro

The strong wind that has been buffeting the mountainous regions of Madeira returned this Saturday (until 9 am) with gusts above 100 km/h in the Areeiro area. ‘

For the fourth day in a row, the Chão do Areeiro meteorological station (located at 1,590 m above sea level) is experiencing stormy winds, and today, at dawn, it was ‘swept’ by winds at 109 km/h.

In the last four days, here are the extremes of wind speed at the station with an anemometer (instrument that measures wind speed) located at the highest altitude: 111 km/h, on the 20th; 117 km/h, day 21; 104 km/h, day 22; and 109 km/h, on the 23rd.

Strong wind that also hit the city of Funchal at dawn, with the IPMA anemometer placed in the Madeira Operational Command – Madeira Military Zone, in Pico da Cruz, in São Martinho, registering a gust of 71 km/h.
