The celebrations of this Holy Thursday will continue, at the Cathedral of Funchal, this time with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper and celebration of the Washing of the Feet.
Several dozen believers are creating, a human frame in the temple to attend the Eucharist presided over by the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, thus marking what was the last supper of Jesus Christ, the day before his crucifixion .
D. Nuno Brás began the religious ceremony saying that “the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated in this Easter Triduum”, symbolizing “God’s love for us. The love of God that does not give up on anyone. God who becomes man even to the point of death, to raise us up with him and to resurrect us with him.”
“In this Eucharist, let us celebrate this love of God that insists on remaining with us”, appeals the bishop of Funchal.
