New Orchid hybrid registered in honor of Santana

‘Cattlianthe A Bragada de Santana’ was the name chosen to honor the municipality in the north of the island of Madeira, which sees its name immortalized in an international registry at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

This is the seventh municipality in the Region to see its name or references included in a record of a new orchid hybrid, following the project started in 2019 by Madeiran botanist Pedro Spínola.

The specialist in orchid cultivation explains, in a press release, that the objective of registering this Cattlianthe was, “in addition to the natural tribute to the municipality, to be a bastion of color and hope for rural women”, and the registration was submitted to the March 8th, although the officialization and acceptance of the request by the RHS entity only arrived today, the 11th.

“By the way, this orchid aims to be a beautiful and fragrant memory of everything that reflects in the municipality of Santana”, highlights Pedro Spínola.
