Pay attention to rain, wind and sea waves. Easter marked by bad weather

The forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere are not at all favorable for those who had spring plans to enjoy this Easter.

Today, according to the IPMA, we will have generally very cloudy skies, with open skies until the early afternoon. Periods of rain, turning into showers, more frequent from the afternoon onwards, and can sometimes be strong, especially on the southern slopes and in the highlands of the island of Madeira. There is still a possibility of thunderstorms starting in the afternoon.

Therefore, both Madeira and Porto Santo are under yellow warning between 3pm and 9pm.

As for the wind, it will be moderate (20 to 35 km/h) from the west/southwest, sometimes blowing strong (up to 45 km/h), with gusts of up to 80 km/h, being moderate to strong (up to 55 km/h) in the highlands, with gusts of up to 100 km/h, turning northwest at the end of the day.

The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for wind, between 12pm this Thursday and 3am tomorrow.

There are also other warnings in force. Yellow for the south coast of Madeira due to maritime unrest, which is in effect between 3pm today and 6am next Saturday, the 30th. The north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo are under orange warning.

On the north coast northwest waves of 3 to 4 meters are expected, increasing to 5 to 6 meters and on the south coast west waves of 2 to 3 meters are expected, increasing to 4 to 5 meters.
