Search resumes for missing tourist couple in São Vicente

On the fifth day of operations, still without any clue, the device on the ground is much smaller.

I would think this will be the last day of searches, with bad weather on the way.

The search for the French tourist couple who have been missing since Saturday in São Vicente resumed early this morning.

On this fifth day of operations, which are coordinated by the Public Security Police (PSP), together with the Regional Civil Protection Service and the National Maritime Authority, the device on the ground is much smaller.

As the situation has remained unchanged so far, with no clue as to the whereabouts of the two people, and as the maritime turmoil today on the North Coast is more intense than in recent days, the maritime environment is not working, so the teams are concentrated on the trails in the mountain area.

Even today, it is expected that the authorities will carry out an assessment of the entire operation, in order to understand the feasibility, or not, of continuing with the resources on the ground.

Yesterday, the vessel ‘Atlântico 1’, the SANAS-Madeira, assigned to the Porto Moniz Lifeguard Station, “travelled approximately 53 nautical miles and did not detect any indication of the whereabouts of the French tourists who are in an uncertain part. With a search area, which extended up to 4 nautical miles from the coast, the crew sailed between Porto Moniz and Cais de São Jorge”.
