To strengthen bilateral relations and provide assistance to Austrian citizens in Madeira, we are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Honorary Consul of Austria in Madeira, Thomas Berndorfer. The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by the Austrian Ambassador to Portugal, Christoph Meran, on March 18, 2024, at the new headquarters of the Consulate.
Thomas Berndorfer, CEO and founder of Connecting Software, has a wealth of professional experience and a deep connection with Madeira, where he has lived since 2017. With a successful personal and business history, Berndorfer was born in Austria, where he began his business journey in 2004. Twenty years later, his company, Connecting Software, has its most significant development hub in Madeira and boasts more than 350,000 users worldwide.
The Honorary Consulate of Austria is now based at Caminho de Santo António, no. 243, in Funchal. Thomas Berndorfer expressed his commitment to serving both Austrian residents in Madeira and the numerous visitors to the island.
