Work completed on the cliff overlooking the Calheta waterfront

The Calheta City Council announced today that work on the cliff overlooking the waterfront of the town of Calheta has now been completed. The municipality highlights that, therefore, vehicles and pedestrians can now circulate along the entire Avenida D. Manuel I, in Vila da Calheta. All services located on that artery will resume normal operation from tomorrow, Sunday.

“The Municipality of Calheta thanks everyone for their understanding during this period of intervention, both from those who had to suspend their services, and from the residents who usually use them. Special thanks also to the team of rock workers from the Regional Government, as well as the Municipal Civil Protection Service and the Security Forces who were on the ground during these three days”, can be read in a note from the municipality.

Carlos Teles emphasizes that the purpose of these interventions is always to guarantee the safety of the population, once again reinforcing the need for a profound intervention to definitively resolve the instability of this cliff.
