Large patches of sargassum continue to wash up on Porto Santo beach

Large quantities of pelagic sargassum once again ‘washed up’ on Porto Santo beach.

This morning the undesirable algae covered large stretches of the golden sand, causing natural apprehension among bathers and other users of the Porto Santo beach.

“Porto Santo Beach completely full of sargassum”, a user told DIÁRIO, surprised by the size of the ‘stain’ along the extensive sand.

A problem that causes constraints and that since the beginning of this year has required recurring cleaning operations in order to minimize the impact caused by the persistent presence of floating sargassum that is dragged by sea currents.
