Passenger reports overcrowding and “lack of security” on Rodoeste buses

“Bus full of children and elderly people standing unsafely and dangerous for all passengers”. This is how a passenger on Rodoeste buses, who makes the 8 am trip, describes the route of route number 3.

She explains that public transport at that time is often full as it is the time when workers, young people and children go to their place of work and school, and the bus does not have the capacity to accommodate so many people. “The buses available are with two seats on the right side and two on the left side. The capacity is not enough for so many people in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos”, she confirms.

The situation ‘worse’, according to her, when the bus does not stop at stops to let people in, as it is already overcrowded. “They leave people at stops and don’t let them enter because they no longer have the capacity to do anything else”, reports the user.

Another point mentioned concerns the condition of the vehicles. This Monday, April 8, the woman says that the bus was “giving a sign that it was in need of repair”: “We had to leave to go to another bus, but as it was already very full we were told to wait for the next bus”, explaining that the vehicle was “emitting a lot of smoke and heating up”.

“A bus that goes along the Expressway with children and elderly people standing. Young people get up so that children and the elderly can sit down to go more safely”, says the passenger, adding that “it’s still not enough” and that it’s a situation that has been going on “for years”.

“There are times when the bus is on the Expressway and we have to wait for another bus to come. In other words, every day we run the risk of not knowing whether we are going to get to work or not because they are in poor condition,” she points out.

She says that she went to Rodoeste “several times” to expose these situations, but “they never do anything”.

Finally, another situation mentioned, and already reported previously, is that when it rains, water enters the bus.

“They are not in good condition, but the buses are still available to us. They treat us like trash”, she concludes.

DIÁRIO tried to contact Rodoeste, but so far has not received any response.
