Carlos Sales, the man who in April 2023 says he was run over by the car of Madeiran singer Rúben Aguiar, argues that he “should remain without a license forever to never do the same thing again”.
In an interview with CM, the man assured that the singer always devalued what he did, and says that the judge would never impose a sentence if she considered him to be innocent.
“He sees the images like I see them. He gets into the car and minutes later runs over me. If he had been panicking, he wouldn’t have even started the car,” he said.
And he added: “I could have received a million euros and it wouldn’t set my bones straight, it wouldn’t take away my pain and it wouldn’t take away the suffering I had. Money helps, but there is no money that can pay for what he did to me.”
Carlos Sales also told Correio da Manhã that following the collision he underwent three surgeries and two blood transfusions.
“I was in the hospital for 29 days, many months in recovery, a lot of pain, many sleepless nights and I continue to have several injuries and broken ribs, my leg with irons, I lost teeth and my jaw has 6 plates and this man still says that he just ran over my foot”, lamented the victim.
As for Rúben Aguiar, he was sentenced in the Almada Court to an effective prison sentence for being hit and run and will have to serve five years and six months in prison. He is disqualified from driving for a year.
