The vice-president of PS-Madeira, Miguel Iglésias, wrote to party members, via a WhatsApp group, in which he appealed for “resilience” and showed his conviction that it is possible for the PS to lead the Regional Government.
He understands that Miguel Albuquerque will not remain in the Government and that, with his departure, it will be Paulo Cafôfo’s turn, it is understood. A process that can “take weeks, months”, he claims.

“Comrades, this is going to be a stepwise and very complex process. Nobody has 24 deputies at the moment. Nobody. Therefore, it is most likely that the Representative of the Republic will first appoint Albuquerque to form a government. What we know right now is that a motion of confidence presented by Albuquerque will not be approved. And therefore, we need to fight and create the conditions to then have our ‘chance’ of being nominated by the RR and presenting to ALRAM. The President of PS Madeira is doing everything in his power to make this happen. This will take weeks months. We need resilience and support from everyone.”
