DCIAP investigates ‘invented works’ and ‘favoring economic groups’ in Madeira

The case of “invented works” and “favoring economic groups” is back in the news. Diário de Notícias reveals that the “invented works” worth almost 900 million, the “yielding to pressure” to remove government officials and the “favors of the Regional Government, of Albuquerque, to economic groups” are “under investigation” at the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action.

The morning newspaper says that there are six targets for “abuse of power” or “crime of disobedience”: Miguel Albuquerque (president of the Regional Government of Madeira), Pedro Calado (president of the Chamber of Funchal and former deputy of Albuquerque), Jorge Carvalho ( Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Technology), Eduardo Jesus (Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture), Susana Prada (Regional Secretary for Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change) and the Presidency of the Regional Government of Madeira itself; one for having hidden “business interests”: Adolfo Brazão (who was president of the Commission of Inquiry into “invented works”); three targets for obtaining “favorite”: Luís Miguel Sousa (Grupo Sousa), Avelino Farinha (Grupo AFA) and Dionísio Pestana (Grupo Pestana); one for “influence”: Jaime Ramos (former parliamentary leader and general secretary of PSD-Madeira); and then a denunciation against “uncertain”.

(About time we see the Sousa Group mentioned in this investigation)
It also adds that PGR confirmed that DCIAP is investigating the case, but does not clarify whether “accused have already been constituted” following the complaint filed by the PS.
