The fire is relentless. After a night of burning through the bush in Trompica, Lugar da Serra and Jardim da Serra, the flames are growing in size and are now very close to the Boca da Corrida viewpoint, which is causing great concern.
The fear now is that it will go down the valley, especially since the strong wind felt in the area is not helping.
As reported by DIÁRIO, this fire has two active fronts. There are around 30 firefighters on the ground from three brigades – Ribeira Brava Ponta do Sol Mixed Fire Brigade, Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Fire Brigade and Madeira Volunteer Fire Brigade – as well as the helicopter-borne brigade. The helicopter carried out some water drops, but had to suspend the operation due to strong winds.
