According to the most recent situation report from the Regional Civil Protection Service, the fire that started has two areas of operations located in Serra de Água (Encumeada and Paul da Serra) and in Curral das Freiras.
In total, 102 personnel, 16 vehicles and air resources are involved in the operations, including elements of the Special Civil Protection Force, with the continued support of the Regional Relief Operations Command (CROS), the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), the GNR and the PSP.
In Serra de Água, four fires remain, although of lesser intensity. One of which is located in Paul da Serra and is spreading towards the Lombada area, Ponta do Sol.
The Service states that, in Curral das Freiras, the situation “remains worrying” in Fajã dos Cardos, where the fire in Caldeirão do Urzal remains active, with upward progression and favored by the wind, increasing the risk of spread.
The SRPC, IP-RAM continues to closely monitor the evolution of the fires and appeals to the population to avoid traveling to the affected areas, thus ensuring a more effective and safer fire-fighting operation for the teams on the ground.
