The morning started well, but now the winds, are causing more problems, and the direction of the wind, is making a strong cross wind at times.
Another day of restrictions at Madeira International Airport, all due to the strong winds felt in the Santa Cruz area.
At 10:20 a.m., a Jet2 plane from London landed. It was supposed to land at 9:50 a.m., but was forced to wait for an opportunity to approach the runway.
Transavia flight HV 6629, from Amsterdam, also went around in circles until it managed to get a ‘clearance’ to land, which it did successfully at around 10:25 am.
Another Jet2 flight, coming from Manchester, is circling off Madeira, also waiting for an opportunity to try to approach the Madeiran runway.
Hopefully all flights will still manage to land, but delays are expected, as well as the backlog from yesterday, where 7 flights were cancelled and 13 diverted.
