Funchal woke up today with two cruise ships in port: the ‘Queen Anne’ and the ‘Wind Star’. Together, they bring 4,237 people, including passengers and crew, to spend the day in Madeira. These are two port calls arranged by Blatas.
The first to arrive was ‘Queen Anne’, which began its entry maneuvers into the Port of Funchal at 6:45 am. Sailing from Southampton, United Kingdom, and with 2,827 passengers and 1,220 crew members, the Cunard ship will remain at the tip of the harbor until close to midnight.
The ‘Queen Anne’ is at the start of a two-week voyage through the Canary Islands, Madeira and Lisbon. From Funchal, it sails to Santa Cruz de la Palma, then visits the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, all in the Canary Islands, before heading up to Lisbon, the last stop before returning to Southampton, where the cruise ends on December 14th.
The Wind Star arrived at 10:00 AM from Santa Cruz de la Palma and will spend the night at Pier 6. It is carrying 85 passengers and 105 crew members and will continue its journey this Friday at 5:00 PM towards Lanzarote. It is undertaking a 10-day cruise through the Canary Islands and Madeira, visiting practically all the islands of that Spanish archipelago: Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria.
The two are accompanied at the bow of the Norwegian training sailboat Christian Radich, which, with 72 people on board, has been in Funchal since Monday, departing tomorrow, Friday, at 5:00 pm, for Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Before setting sail, it will cross paths with the mega-yacht Splistream, a stopover from the Wilhelmsen, which arrives from Gibraltar and departs at 6:00 PM for Nassau, Bahamas. It is sailing with 15 crew members.
