A large fire in the Trompica zone of Campanario is once again active, this is the same area where there was a fire yesterday, which was put out by fire crew.
The fire is large and active now, a huge plume of smoke can be seen from Funchal.
17 firemen along with 6 Vehicles at at the site, and strong winds are making it difficult to control.
Are these fires being started deliberately, or are they reigniting from the previous one, we have had a lot this year in all different areas, and with the high temperatures at the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more, everywhere is tinder dry along the south. I visited the north of the island Saturday, and it was nice to see some rain, and everything looking a little greener, than the parched land on the South. Lets hope we get some decent rain soon….
