Couple walks through Levada do Caldeirão Verde with 1 year old baby

A couple of tourists were in the last days seen touring the Levada do Caldeirão Verde in Santana with a 1 year old baby in a their arms.

The woman carried the child and the man carried the pushchair under his arm…

  1. Quite unbelievable…that sheer drop to their right is a very long way down. Here’s hoping they reached the other end safely…as well as some strong words of advice from fellow walkers too!

  8. I do not see what’s the problem by taking a kid on that route
    Parents are the ones that make the decisions on what to do while on vacations , not some know all sitting behind a computer desk barking orders to everyone , be safe up there

  9. Having walking levadas myself, there are some that are definitely too dangerous even for adults. At the end of the day, a lot of parents take children on holidays and anything can happen, home or away. People with them should have advised them (maybe they did/n’t), if they thought the walk wouldn’t be safe, rather than post a photograph. If the parents were advised but decided to continue, then…. I hope they were safe and had a lovely walk. I do love those mountains.

Ray, I don’t believe it was necessarily wrong for the couple to have taken their young toddler on the walk per se…my previous point great concern was that the lady seemed to be oblivious to the danger that she was putting the toddler by seemingly carrying him, or her, in a very precarious manner. I agree that the surroundings are stunning but that the utmost care is needed by all who walk along these levadas.
