The airport has closed down, as there are no customers.

Everywhere is very quiet.

    Our first trip to your amazing island has been scuppered! Jet2 has suspended all flights from the UK in the last hour? We were to arrive next Friday. However, hope to make it maybe next year. Keep safe during this strange period we live in and thanks for your blog, a reliable source of information.

  3. Just walked the dogs and you could hear a pin drop in Funchal. Next to nobody out and about and very little traffic on the roads.

  6. We have just had an email from Jet 2 to inform us that our flights for 3rd April have cancelled. So sad for all the businesses in Madeira

  7. This is so sad. My thoughts are with you all, especially all our friends who rely on tourists keeping their business alive in Madeira. I hope this virus soon passes and we can all return to normal.

    1. The forced quarantine is in force for anyone arriving after midnight, not to who is already there.

      1. Only arrived yesterday but have been advised might need to leave asap. First time here but we will definitely be back. It’s so beautiful!!

  10. My second visit of the year due on April 6th has just been cancelled. Want to wish all my friends and the wonderful people of the island my best wishes and good health. Will see you all later in the year. It will just need to be 5 visits this year and not my usual 6. About time I made the move permanently really. Stay well everyone.
