  1. The Hotel does’nt fit with this coment. Terrible language and primitiv expressions with a high end quality Hotel is a no go!!! Bad marketing.

  2. We travel to Madeira 6/7 times a year normally staying at the cliff or Reid’s but have stayed In numerous hotels on the island. We thought we’d give this a go!

    In short it was dreadful, we were kept waiting for 3 hours at check in, even though the hotel is empty, no refreshments offered or use of facilities whilst we waitied, then given the worse room in the hotel.

    The pool shown on this article is not open so are half the restaurants, the restaurant offering breakfast was like a bun fight with very little choice and poorly cooked food, the bacon and sausage were virtually raw. The location of the main pool was dreadful overlooking a building sight with non of the beautiful views you get from the likes of even the Pestana casino which although not in this category of hotel in our opinion was bar far superior. I would qualify this by saying our room was good, when we got it, albeit was the worst in the hotel being dark and dismal, but it should be it’s a new hotel.

    Staff are like rabbits in headlights not really knowing what to do or how to deliver services I had expected. I understand they have a recruiting problem and this is really evident.

    Goodness me I would have liked to report having seen this monstrosity go up that it added something positive to Funchal sadly it doesn’t.

    2. Yes I have heard all the same, and we knew 3 couples friends of friends who stayed over Christmas and New Year in 3 suites. It was a terrible experience for them, they didn’t even have hot water for 1week. They spoke to the managing director and did get a 15 thousand euro refund, but they certainly wouldn’t stay there again. Cliff Bay is the best luxury choice on the island and the new suites are gorgeous.

  3. Such a pity after all the hype and build up to its opening. Just shows that money does not always buy quality.
