Jet2 the UKs largest tour operator to Madeira have cancelled all flights and holidays till June 17th 2020. This means anyone who had a flight booked or holiday package booked can now I presume claim a refund.

      1. BA should have cancelled all flights for May, as they have laid off 30,000 staff till end of May, and not flying from Gatwick at all.

  2. Just had our Travel Agent on phone Tobi 11am. JET2 ( Not Maderia however this May ) however same prob applies. I was offered vouchers to USE by July 31st 2020. ?? When I asked about refunds bit cagey. However I’ve postponed holiday to May 2021. Same Hotel Flights etc Poss same will apply to Maderia. Stay Safe ?

  3. Well we are booked in September, so it is fingers crossed time. If the world lockdown carries on that long, all the airlines will have gone bust anyway, so it’s a bit academic.
    I feel desperately sad for all those lovely people whose livelihoods are affected by this – missing a holiday is a mere inconvenience. Let us hope those empty streets are full soon.

  4. Any news yet from Easyjet when or if they will fly again to your wonderful Island?

    1. They cancelled till end of May. But the situation is not when they fly, its when we will allow tourist to the island. If the situation is still bad across Europe, then it could be a while. Lets hope some better testing is found soon.

      1. We are organised to visit in November again this year.
        I agree that the biggest issue will be when Madeira allows visitors again, and under what conditions.
        Could be a tough call given the impact on the tourist industry.

  5. We should all await in trepidation and hope that the return to normality aligns to when its safe and not just economic reasons or its start all over again.

  6. There are many questions as to when tourism will resume not only in Madeira but around the world . How many airlines will survive ? Will they fly here? Will people have the money to go on holiday when this is over?
    Will any travel insurance cover this devastating illness ? I think as this virus is likely to be around for 18 months , tourism will not recover anywhere until 2022 .

  8. so if jet2 are to resume flights and holidays 17th June to Madeira, will there still be a 2 week isolation period on arrival? We are due to fly 3rd July 2020.

    1. No this will not be possible for tourists. They are still working a way to welcome tourists in the safest way possible. It’s impossible to keep the virus out of Madeira once visitors start arriving, and we can’t stay shut down.
