Picado, Have you tried it?

Another great video with Michael Santos, and another super popular dish from Madeira. Im guess most people you have come to the island on a regular basis will have tried a Picado at some point, But I also know one couple who have been coming to the island for years, and have not even heard of it. I hope they have tried one now while being on the island.

Now you can have a go at making your own.

    1. Normally it is beef but it is sometimes chicken or we’ve even had an espada one but not usually pork.

  5. We were recommended to go by a Madeiran to bar Azul at Praia Formosa around 15 years or more ago. Now it is a regular every time we go to Madeira. So visit a number of times over our three visits a year. A point of interest is that our grandchildren think it’s wonderful. One even learnt to eat meat as a result of trying Bar Azul’s Picado. Sitting there watching the Sun go down is magical. If you haven’t had a good picardo you haven’t lived also a Prego Especial with egg and the works at Bar Two opposite the Carlton hotel so-called as the customer is Number One!

    1. Yes very good, and another favourite of ours is beer garden just on the corner past the entrance where you would drive down to Praia Formosa from the main road.

  6. Love it, it’s a must on our yearly visit to Madeira, we usually go to canical, it was a local friend who took us there and we retun every year and yes we eat it with toon picks yum yum

  7. Always have picado when we come to Madeira. Just delicious! The Yacht Bar did a good one but have also tried O Brinqhinho and Bella Ilha’s offerings.

  8. We always have our Picado at the Beer Garden. We walk to it from the Foram across the bridge (carefully, close to the wall, no footpath). Delicious Picado meal with garlic bread to mop up the sauce at the end.
