THERE ARE 49 SUSPECTED CASES UNDER STUDY. 25 ARE RELATED TO CONTACTS WITH INFECTED

According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, released by the Health Administration Institute (IASAÚDE), there are 49 new situations that are being studied by health authorities.

According to the information made known, 24 of these situations come from the screening operation at the airport, and 25 are related to contacts with identified positive cases.

  2. It’s increasing faster and faster and more and more local transmissions. We should be VERY worried!

  4. That must be the biggest daily total so far and the local contagion is extremely worrying.

    1. It sure is and if this continues it’ll be a disaster scenario.
      I don’t even want to think about what will happen in Dec. when more tourists will arrive OMG!

      1. Lois I think you need to take a deep breath and calm down. Authorities are doing a job at the airport checks and quickly mitigating transmission chains. You should avoid getting into that stress of “Oh my god, 15 cases today!!!”, anf then 3 the next day and your quiet and then two days later “Oh my god, 10 today!” and then 2 the next day and quiet. Numbers will increase, its simple maths. If numbers are growing in Europe the chances of finding positive cases at Madeira increase. But you must calm down and look at these numbers in context with the fact that Madeira is testing EVERYONE.

        2. Believe me, I am very calm but I am also very realistic which unfortunately often is judged as pessimistic.

          I am also very well informed about Covid-19 and can’t behave as lightharted and naieve as many others.

          I rest my case about what’s going on here and now on Madeira and the daily increase of people tested positive on Covid.

          Just remember my comments when the holiday season is behind us and there are hundreds of people infected on the island and I am not talking about just tourists.

    2. Yesterday it was 14 new cases and today its 8 new cases, so the number of new cases decreased. The article above refers to suspected cases which is not the same as new cases.

    1. Believe me it’s not a free holiday, being put in a hotel room and not allow out is horrible, with hospital food and you stay there till you test negative .

  6. The numbers of flights from the UK is rising gradually. Tui have re-commenced flights from Gatwick today. I just hope people are not flying whilst starting to develop symptoms.

  7. madeira is being promoted as a safe place to travel why? the covid infection rates is rising some one must know the truth as to the state of affairs i’ts either safe or it is”nt
    peoples lives are at stake but I doubt the authority’s will be very forth coming.

    1. It is safe as the virus is not running free around the island! The airport testing is trapping the incoming positive cases and they are whipped off to a quarantine hotel.

    2. I think one must be a little more clever than that to understand the numbers. Madeira is testing EVERYONE at the airport. If they tested EVERYONE arriving at Heathrow airport, or Manchester airport or Edinburgh airport they would lock down UK for the next 2 years.

  8. We travelled on a Jet2 flight from Edinburgh on 28 September with only 46 passengers on board. Most impressed with the testing procedure at Funchal. There has to be a balance between keeping safe and protecting the economy.
    Madeirans are very casual about the importance of keeping safe – no social distancing, large parties eating and drinking, chatting in groups without wearing a mask. If the virus gets a hold here, it will spread like wildfireand the island has plenty experience of that….!
