  3. It is sad to see now the internal transmission of the Virus to Madeirans. And given how assiduous the Island has been. Holidaymakers returning to the UK started the pandemic thus, here. One guy from Austria in fact. Where the ski resort had kept the outbreak quiet . So however inconvenient , the UK Lockdown will help shield the island from UK infection. Given the exponential increase in the UK virus numbers – why import more trouble ?

  5. I read Michaels comment as one from a UK perspective not an accusation that the UK were responsible for all the infections here.

    1. I have yet to see where it tells us that the Madeirans that have been infected with the Virus have been infected by the Poles, British, Spanish, French or Dutch, not to mention the Portuguese, or Heaven forbid, Madeirans returning from the mainland. All of these countries have an exponential increase in numbers. Why import more trouble ? Because without visitors, there will be no Madeira. Ask a local businessman.

  6. I tried to enter my comments but as an IT idiot obviously not succeeded! Just wanted to say ( or try to) that we are currently in Madeira. The locals are all very friendly and welcoming. The compliance with safety measures are exemplary. The testing as we arrived I hope mean we are not putting the Island at risk. Keep safe xx
