Today there are 32 new positive cases to report. This is 1 case imported from the North of Portugal and 31 cases of local transmission, mostly associated with contacts of positive cases previously identified. The contacts of 3 cases are under investigation.
Five cases confirmed today concern children aged 2-16 years, 4 of them attend educational establishments in the municipalities of Funchal and Machico. One case concerns an adult with professional activity in the same educational establishment in the municipality of Machico. The contingency plans of these establishments are active and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
The health authorities’ report also reveals that 9 people are hospitalized in the Multipurpose Unit dedicated to covid-19.
There are 14 recovered cases, leaving 226 active cases.
