One of Madeira’s most entertaining bands has rebranded themselves, especially for Christmas from the Whyte ‘Blues’ Band to the Whyte ‘Christmas’ Band.
Featuring a multitude of multinational players from Scotland & the USA, Canada, South Africa and of course Madeira, the Whyte ‘Christmas’ Band has introduced an array of popular Christmas tunes to augment their usual lively blues & rock setlist.
Popular local musicians, Sarah and Phil Carvalho from Ontario, Canada are very well-experienced in providing such a seasonal setlist and will be performing numbers such as ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’, ‘Santa Baby’, ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ while David Whyte will do his Elvis Presley impersonation singing ‘Blue Christmas’. In between, the band will be playing their usual rousing hits, finishing the 90-minute set with José Feliciano’s ‘Feliz Navidad’.
The band’s spokesman, David Whyte told us, “We wanted to do something different in town this Christmas. We love performing our Blues and Rock numbers but with Sarah and Phil on board, it was easy to come up with something more seasonal. I think the audience will enjoy our take on some traditional Christmas tunes.”
It promises to be one of the Christmas season’s most entertaining music concerts so get down early to get a seat at Pavilhão dos Concertos, next door to The Ritz Café on 16th December. The band starts playing at 6pm and the show finishes at 7.30pm. There is limited seating so first come first served.
