Ponta Delgada population is without drinking water

The population of the parish of Ponta Delgada is without drinking water.

The intense rains that fell during Christmas day in the northern part of the island of Madeira will have caused damage to the drinking water distribution network and countless homes in the center of the parish are without the precious resource.

Cleaning works on the public roads were resumed early this morning, with the support of some machines.

The section connecting the parishes of Ponta Delgada and Boaventura, meanwhile, was unobstructed during the night, around 3 am. But about half an hour after the reopening, there was a further collapse that determined the new closure of that expressway connection.

Also in the center of the parish, cleaning works on the public road take place, making room for the damage to be assessed.

This is one of the several points where machines are found to remove debris from the wreckage caused by the storm in the North of the island of Madeira.
