The rain that has been felt since yesterday night, on the north coast of the island, is causing great damage.
There are “roads transformed into streams and flooded houses”, Miguel Freitas, president of the Ponta Delgada Parish Council, tells Diário Notícias, adding that the situation “is catastrophic”.
The mayor takes the opportunity to launch a request for help, “but whoever has competent means to help”. He also asks that people who do not need not go to that parish in the north.
