REGIONAL AUTHORITIES CONCERNED ABOUT THE SITUATION OF THE BRITISH PLANE AT MADEIRA AIRPORT

The regional authorities do not, for now, make any comment on the situation that leaves dozens of English passengers, who arrived this morning at Madeira Airport on a British Airways flight, being held inside the plane by order of the SEF.

Contacted by the JM, the regional authorities admit that the case is being followed with great concern, since this could have consequences both at diplomatic and commercial levels.

The JM also knows the situation is being guided by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), so there is, so far, no intervention by the regional authorities.

It should be remembered that the intervention of the SEF – Foreigners and Borders Service comes after the decision of the Portuguese State to impose restrictions on connections with the United Kingdom as of 0:00 am.
