Region passes 2000 active cases.
There are 98 new positive cases to report this Saturday in Madeira. These are 97 cases of local transmission, most of them already associated with contacts or contexts of positive cases. Epidemiological investigations are still ongoing. The other case is imported from the Lisbon Region and the Tagus valley.
With 59 more cases recovered to report, the Region now counts 2,007 active cases, of which 99 are imported cases and 1,908 are of local transmission.
Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that 73 people are hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça (65 people in Multipurpose Units and 8 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to Covid-19) and 53 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.
With four more deaths to report, the Region now accounts for a total of 44 deaths associated with Covid-19. None of these deaths is associated with the three patients who were transferred yesterday from the Portuguese mainland to Madeira.
Note also for the 295 new situations that are being studied today by the health authorities, which are related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
