DANGER: CONNECTION BETWEEN JARDIM DO MAR AND ESTREITO DA CALHETA REMAINS CLOSED

The connection between Jardim do Mar and Estreito da Calheta, via regional road 223, affected by a major collapse on the 19th, will not reopen to traffic this weekend, according to the president of the Paul do Mar parish council.

In a Facebook post, accompanied by a photo of the place, pictured above, Paulo Rodrigues says that the road section in question “does not guarantee any security”.

According to the mayor “it will not be reopened this weekend” and it will be necessary to wait “for a few more days” until this is possible.

Paulo Rodrigues praises, however, the “excellent work” that has been carried out with a view to restoring the security of the referred route.

A team were at the site and it was up to the technicians of the Regional Directorate of Roads to make an assessment of the damage to assess the safety of movement or not.

The access to Jardim do Mar is currently made by Paul do Mar through the Fajã da Ovelha road.
