Dawn of abundant rain in the high areas of Funchal caused a red warning

The very significant values ​​of rain recorded during the night, especially in the high and mountainous areas of Funchal, led the IPMA to raise – close to 5 am in the morning – the warning for precipitation in the mountainous regions, which lasted until 9 am, to red. It did not take long and four automatic meteorological stations (EMAs) of the IPMA network in Madeira recorded amounts of precipitation consistent with the ‘red alert’: Chão do Areeiro (76.3 mm / 6h); Pico do Areeiro (72.3 mm / 6h); Mount (69.6 mm / 6h) and Cancela / SRPC (64.7 mm / 6h).

Rain that has since decreased in intensity since dawn. Yellow warnings for precipitation, wind and sea agitation remain active.
