House prices in Madeira increased by 25.4% in 2022

House prices in the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased by 25.4 percent in December 2022 compared to the same month last year.

According to the Idealista price index, buying a house in Madeira had a cost of 2,389 euros per square meter (euros/m2) at the end of December, taking into account the median value. In relation to the monthly change, the rise was 2.1 percent and the quarterly change was 4.7 percent.

House prices in the Region rose in Santana (40.5%), Ponta do Sol (28.7%), Funchal (25.9%), Calheta (20.6%), São Vicente (19.7%) , Santa Cruz (19.7%), Câmara de Lobos (17.3%), Machico (14.7%) and Ribeira Brava (4.1%).

The most expensive municipality to buy a house in is Funchal (2,656 euros/m2), followed by Calheta (2,371 euros/m2), Câmara de Lobos (1,952 euros/m2) and Ponta do Sol (1,853 euros/m2).

On the other hand, the cheapest ones are: São Vicente (1,279 euros/m2), Santana (1,330 euros/m2), Machico (1,440 euros/m2) and Santa Cruz (1,541 euros/m2).

In Porto Santo, houses rose 29 percent during the same period analyzed, setting the price per square meter at 1,781 euros per square meter.
