A driver entered the Expressway on the wrong side of the road, but without major consequences, creating a fright for himself and other drivers, who were forced to stop driving while he reversed to get off the road.
The incident occurred yesterday, with the scene being filmed by a citizen, culminating in the ‘encounter’ with the other vehicles right under the runway at Madeira Airport, in Água de Pena, towards Ribeira Brava – Machico.
According to what was possible to ascertain, the driver made the wrong entrance to the city of Machico, most likely because Estrada da Queimada has been closed to traffic and pedestrians since November 29th.
That road used by many residents, but also tourists, as an alternative to the Via Rápida, has been closed for more than two weeks due to a landslide, and this situation was announced by the municipality of Machico. However, the resolution of the situation will await analysis of the rock above.
Without additional information or measures to resolve the situation, many drivers in the area have to look for the only alternative, which is what happened to this citizen, whose mistake almost caused a serious accident.
