The iconic Golden building, located in the heart of the city of Funchal, has already been handed over by the Regional Government to its new owners, meeting the deadline stipulated at the time of sale. This ‘transaction’ happened last Thursday, December 14th.
According to a press release, the Delivery Notice was signed between the regional director of Heritage, Rui Cortez and the Legal Manager of Mercan Properties, Rita Madureira, after the technical inspection carried out by members of both parties.
The sale of the property took place on June 22, 2023 for 7 million euros, with a deadline of 6 months for delivery by the Regional Government of Madeira.
“The sale was conditional on the rehabilitation of the building for hotel purposes, with the new owners already following the necessary procedures to begin work, with a view to requalifying the property into a 5-star unit”, indicates the same note, adding that “Mercan Properties specializes in the conversion of buildings into city hotels and is developing more than 20 projects in Portugal, including the new project in Funchal”.
All services of the Regional Government of Madeira, which were installed in the Golden Building, have already been transferred to other properties owned by the Region.
