There is no Christmas without the famous “little lights” and as tradition dictates, the Christmas and New Year lights are turned on today in the city of Funchal, thus marking the beginning of the Christmas season in the capital of Madeira.
At 6pm sharp, around 1.6 million lamps, of various colors and designs, will illuminate the streets, streams, gardens, buildings and different places in the city for the first time this year, delighting everyone residents and visitors.
As happened at Christmas 2022, it will be possible to interact with the Christmas lights, using a QR Code, which will allow you to change their colors.
But also, as usual, the first holiday in December sees the start of another major attraction, the Christmas Market, which is once again installed on the Central Plaque on Avenida Arriaga.
