Tug refueling leaves ‘Grande Senegal’ off Madeira

The ship ‘Great Senegal’ bound for Turkey, where it will be dismantled, requested a return to land so that the tug could be refueled.

The sea captain, Rui Teixeira, authorized this rapprochement up to 3 miles, by committing an APRAM tug to the location in order to replace the ship’s tug while it headed to the Port of Caniçal to carry out refueling.

There was, however, an unforeseen event. In this case, a tow cable broke and ended up delaying the operation, making it necessary to carry out diving operations to recover the cable.

The situation, which has been going on for two days, according to JM, has now been regularized. At this point, we are just waiting for the tug to carry out the refueling operation so that the ‘Great Senegal’ can then head towards Turkey.

The ship is just off Caniço at the monent, and has been in our waters for about a week now.
